Yesterday I finished my final day of being a full-time salaried employee. Today I am beginning a new journey. Over the next six weeks, my spouse and I will comb through our belongings, getting rid of most of them, and winnowing down the rest into what will fit into a 2006 Toyota Matrix hatchback. It’s time to follow The Dirtbag Way.
The journey will take us to the canyons of Utah where I will take part in my first 100-mile ultra-marathon. Afterwards, we plan on celebrating whatever happens during the run by floating the Green River through Stillwater and Labyrinth Canyons. From there, we don’t know where the adventure will take us. We will play, connect with old friends, and piece together some work along the way. Where and when we will have a place to call home again is unknown.
It is an exciting and scary time. The stability of having two steady paychecks and the same spot to lay our heads every night has lulled us into a state of quiet complacency. But the yearning deep within for adventure will not let us grow too comfortable, so we must go. I do not know where this adventure will lead, but I hope that you will come along for the ride.

Yes! We will always have your back.
John
And we’ll always have your’s as well. Don’t be surprised to see our tent in your backyard sometime later this summer.
Wellsie
Blessings, bold wanderers. And thanks for being an inspiration.
John
Thanks Sarah. The support of friends like you is getting us all charged up.

Yes!! I can feel the pulse of adventure in your words already! It has it’s own sound… The hypnotic paddle lapping in the water, the spontaneous dancer, the sound of music on the street, the laughter of new friends, the uncorking of wine, the song of crickets when everything else has grown quiet, the breath of uncertainty that is answered by the morning sun, the sound of your own hearts as you listen and step in beat. Love to you two! I’m so excited for all that is waiting for you! Blessings! And come stay with us if you are in Greenville. When you shed your house and things, you find that boundaries no longer apply to you. The world is your backyard and everywhere is your home. Everyone is your family.

God bless your adventures where ever they made lead you. I’m truly inspired. Cedar Rock will always have a hot meal for you and familiar place to rest the adventure worn body. Live big
John
Thanks Lark. It’s being around people like you and the rest of the Outward Bound community that keep us inspired to do more. Hope y’all have a great season up there and we’d love to drop in sometime.
John
Good to hear from you Christi and thanks for those words that set the mood of adventure so well. We’ll be sure to look you up if we pass through Greenville.

Thanks Jo-Lynn. Maybe we’ll get a chance to catch up sometime while we’re out west this summer.
